I had a Brand Photoshoot and it was so much fun!

I’d never properly invested in myself before as a business (well, apart from getting my book published!) so I decided that 2023 was the year I invested in myself with a Brand Photoshoot!

When I booked Aga Mortlock back in January, I had no idea how I was going to afford it, I just knew I had to do it this year. I booked her for mid August, to give me plenty of time to budget/save up. I also made a friend whilst networking locally who makes bespoke clothing. Atelier Howell (Rosemary) lives just down the road, so we spent the last two weeks going back and forth about the jacket, and I got involved myself by helping to make the buttons. I also obviously chose the colours and fabrics too with plenty of sound advice.

Planning the shoot was only really loosely done. I had a couple of ideas, and knew I wanted two dresses and two pairs of leggings for outfits. Aga had to find a way of capturing the essence of me: Being a multi passionate creative, but with the choice to focus on the piano/music side.

And that’s it, we were ready for the day of the shoot!
It was forecast rain until the day before, but the sun came out for us! In fact the morning was a bit too hot!

Aga was worried she might be a bit late, as she had a longer journey coming from Manchester, but I knew she’d love the locations I’d chosen. It actually turned out she was on time!

We started in Chateau Rhianfa, which I’d made connections with and started playing for occasions from May onwards. I donned my full “piano” outfit and we got started!

After we’d done some around playing the piano, we made use of the rays that were coming through the windows!

Outfit 2 was a bit more simple, but I wanted a slightly more casual look for the castle.

We then headed outside, as the Chateau has some beautiful gardens too!

When I planned this photoshoot, we agreed on 3 locations, so it was time to move on to location 2: The Menai Bridge.

Since I host netwalks around Church Island and the Menai Bridge, it seemed fitting to promote that side of things.

And then we rounded things off in my Studio as Location 3.

It was still quite hot, so I was only able to wear my new jacket on the third location, but it seemed a perfect opportunity to show off my book and podcast with the galaxy themed studio that I teach from.

One thing I didn’t realise, is that Aga got a sneaky shot of the banana! Had I known, I would have turned it round so it was facing the camera!

Then we ended the session by focussing on my podcast…
Which I do from my desk with a proper microphone. Except I forget that the microphone isn’t fixed to anything, it’s kind of balanced/wedged between my desk and the wall. When Aga tried to reposition it, it fell out of its position, and in a moment of panic she thought she’d ripped it out of the wall! I couldn’t help but laugh!

If you own a business and you’ve not had a brand photoshoot yet, it’s definitely something to consider. Make sure you do your research and find the right person for you too. Don’t take their word for it. Follow them, see if you like their style, see what other customers honestly say about them.
Aga came highly recommended, but I also met her a few years ago as we were both authors in the book “Seen” in 2021, as hosted by Kat Massey.

Networking is my favourite thing to do alongside my business. The places it’s taken me are beyond what I could have imagined.
