Traditionally I had fewer than 10% of my students taking “summer holiday” lessons, so I’d make the use of the time in the sun, but 2022 times have changed. I’m not confined to one role anymore. I’m a multi passionate creative with many strings to my bow, so I’ve been looking for collaborations since my book launch.
The launch of my book has actually sparked a handful of new connections and ideas that align completely with my mission. Everything is a work in progress for now, but watch this space!
On the book front, launch day was incredible, and the support was out of this world. The kindle version launched on 27th May, and I have an audible version in the pipeline too. (I decided to do a DIY audible, so there’s no timeframe at the moment while I practice and refine what I’m doing.)

I’ve also been doing a sponsored yoga challenge for June, raising money for Cancer Research UK. Every day on my Instgram/Page I’ve been posting daily accountability posts showing off my various leggings.

Meanwhile, as a piano tutor, it’s nice to know that more students this year would like summer lessons – I pride myself on being flexible and understanding; I think the parents/students appreciate that.
Before the academic year ends, piano exam season is upon us. I have a couple of students sitting their grade 1 and grade 3 respectively. Like most the weakness tends to be Sight Reading (particularly if the students have had a different piano teacher before me), and although this is my specialism, I acknowledge that every individual has their own way of thinking/processing. We aim for perfect in the lessons, but I also remind them that confidence in ability is more important than being perfect.
After all, that’s how I got over my fear of performing on the piano – NOT being perfect <3
