I currently work both as a piano tutor and a pianist, both as a soloist and accompanist.
Pre Covid times, I was accompanist for Côr Alaw’r Fenai as well as background pianist at Penrhyn Castle during season.
During Covid times, I found my confidence as a solo pianist, and have been entertaining my “den” with my music, as well as playing in occasional livestreamed concerts.
I’m also a trained sighted guide, and my last student’s accompanist.
I graduated from Bangor University with a BMus (hons) in 2007, and gained an MA degree in 2010. I have been having music lessons of some sort since the age of 4. (Having learnt to read music from age 3 and picking up the recorder, I then went on to have Violin lessons from age 4 and then Piano from age 7.)
I am classically trained, but like a broad range of different musical genres, and also have perfect pitch with a specialism in sight reading.
I have been in the formal private tutoring field for nearly 8 years.
I am currently teaching a varied range of students – starting from children of both primary and secondary school age, who hope to progress through the ABRSM grade system over the years. I have taught a few more serious University student-aged people who were aiming to enhance their job prospects in the music industry.
I also teach a selection of older learners on a both casual and more formal basis.
To date, I also have 100% pass rate record for ABRSM exams, including distinctions and merits.
I teach from my private studio based at my house. If you’re looking for a more “alternative” piano teacher look no further! I’m quirky and adaptable. I tailor all lessons to the individual, whatever age or level!
Currently I enjoy inspiring all ages, and am adaptable and flexible to the student’s needs. My youngest student is 5, and my oldest student is in their 70s.
I love the I can inspire the younger generation to have a passion for music, creativity is paramount for a child’s development.
