At the start of this year, I had set my sights on becoming a dance instructor, which was so far out of my comfort zone, those who knew me wondered if I was crazy?!

Chi Chi Fitness was the dancing, it’s not just dancing, it’s “working out to musicals” and that I can get behind.. I wrote down my goal – become a dance instructor by Easter.

What actually happened was my hip flexors have been giving me pain for the last year or so. I’ve been consistently doing Pilates (Popeth Pilates) since August, and although I know what helps, I’m not quite there yet, so doing the on demand classes as a member of Chi Chi Fitness, I realised that my fitness isn’t where I wanted it to be and it left me feeling weak…

In essence, I gave up on my main goal of 2026. I’m not going to become a dance instructor this year (Never say never though!) but I need to allow myself the space because it’s ok to change your mind.

Just because you wrote down a big goal, doesn’t mean that you can’t change perspective!

In the last two weeks life has shown me that I’m not weak at all. I may not have the strength that I had back in 2021, but I’ll get there again eventually. The important thing I have to remember is the mental strength I’ve built.

At the end of February, I attended the Womanifest Awards night, not just as a guest, but also as a finalist!

I was proud to represent my community Nintendo North Wales in its 13th year. I knew I wouldn’t have a chance of winning, because Womanifest is all about women, and my community helps children, men and women! Yet being a finalist recognised that, so I still stand proud in the community I built with my husband.

The awards night itself was such a lovely evening. Nothing felt out of place, everyone was happy to be there, and it was just fab to be able to celebrate so many inspiring and incredible women! (I did get a bit awkward about the dancing at the end of the night, and even if I didn’t technically dance and everyone else did, I still felt like I belonged to the space <3)

I was so chuffed in the morning too, that Anna wanted to have breakfast with me, it was so nice to have a proper catch up. I’ve looked up to her since I met her in 2020. As an expert in the Direct Selling Industry, and her being a guest in the earlier days of my podcast too!

Just a week later, to mark International Womens’ Day, the same tribe (Womanifest) put on a weekend retreat in Shropshire. This was the weekend that changed my perspective.

Although I initially struggled with the limiting beliefs workshop (I don’t have an inner dialogue anymore, so I don’t have that inner voice telling me things like I’m not good enough etc…), one thing that came up for me was that I felt weak. Admittedly that was physically weak, because of the pain I wake up with every morning… After doing the arrow break and the glass walk without any prior fear…

I didn’t really internalise my doubts (because my brain doesn’t let me do that, it just has tunes in it most of the time) I was just like “Well this is easy!”… but I came to the realisation after seeing a couple of the group struggle with the tasks, I’m strong, but mentally! I may not be strong physically at the moment, but I’m strong mentally.

And I owe that to all the work I’ve done over the last 6 years.

As everyone shared their limiting beliefs in the workshop earlier in the day, I realised I could relate to every single one of them. As my past self. Not my current self. And I felt proud of that, but was also very much able to empathise with everyone.

Everyone hates me… Been there.

I’m not good enough… Been there.

I’m a people pleaser… Been there.

I’m a failure as a mum… Been there.

But I wouldn’t have learnt half the stuff I have if it wasn’t for finding my tribe. Finding the women that cheerlead you, that celebrate your wins with you, and offer counsel when you’re feeling low.

That’s how you find somewhere to belong. And I’ll always be here for that <3

So these last two weeks have taught me, that I’ve got this, and whatever I decide to do this year as my Learn something new, I know that it’ll 100% align with my mission. So much love was shared at that retreat, and I’m still hopeless at saying goodbye!
