jumping star pose in mid-air

Confidence is something that always has room to grow, if you’re being true to yourself.

I started the first of the month off in Preston for an event. It was also lovely to be able to catch up with an old friend I hadn’t seen in a couple of years! I actually won a ticket to the event in question. I’d resigned to the fact I wasn’t able to attend due to cost and distance, but as soon as I got word that I’d won a ticket I had to find a way of getting over there!

Michelle Thomas was the host, and I love writing for her (free) Business Magazine “The Happy Business Express”, featuring in most months’ issues since I started writing for her. She has a crazy kind of energy, and loves dressing up in weird and wonderful costumes (most notably the pineapple!)

I went to that event totally confident. I wore my brightest pair of leggings, my sparkliest shoes and jacket, no makeup, and was chatting to people almost immediately. It was great to finally put some faces to names I’d known online for a while but hadn’t yet met in person. It was also nice to connect with new people too. The only awkward bit was dancing, and the offer of “meowing” down the mic to the songs at Cat-aoke…! The whole room had fun though, and I particularly loved that the hot air balloon models in the centre of the tables were full of chocolate coins!

The photoshoot I had was in the latter part of the day. It was fun albeit chilly, and having only experienced Aga’s style last summer, I was interested to find out how other photographers put together their shots. There were 5 photos included in the package, but you could either buy an additional 5 or the whole album. I settled on 10 out of 35 in the end, so it was a no brainer to me.

Julie Harris loved my leggings, and they were the emphasis alongside my book that I’d brought with me. Because every time I “level up” in confidence, my book is a reminder of how far I’ve come, and that reflection is always an important element to remember.

We did some angled shots, and we did some sitting poses on the jetty, but then also did some poses by the wooden huts. Some of my book, some of me with my book, some of just me. A good mix, and ending with a fun mid-air jump shot!

I still always have the problem where I blink every time the camera flashes, but I tried my best!

The solo book shot was a striking picture too…

My book "Tales of an Anxiety Warrior" leaning against a green plant pot with red flowers in it.

and of course I had to have the jump star shot!

A shot of me star jumping in the air, with rainbow leggings, and navy sparkly jacket.

And yes the old me wouldn’t have liked the hint of the double chin, because late October had been pretty low vibe for me, but this time I didn’t care, I really enjoyed the shoot, and the colours came out really well <3

The following week I did a talk as part of Lisa (Vision Board Queen) Williams’ Final Virtual Summit. I was on the final day, and managed to get my talk in before having to dash off on the school run. I told the brief overview of my journey of being the scared pianist, and how I found my confidence and now play the piano regularly both in person and online (because it was #worldpianistday on Friday 8th)

Anxiety to Confidence Talk at Lisa Williams' Summit on Friday 8th November

I’ll be looking for more speaking opportunities in person (and online) in 2025, so if you can help, get in touch! In the meantime, we’re still got the rest of 2024 for adventures, and I’m currently planning my Christmas Campaign. It’s going to be epic!
